NEXT PODCAST EPISODE 5: “From Local to Global: How to Start Your International Journey”
SURABAYA, UNESA – The Educational Technology Study Program proudly presented an international live session via Instagram under the theme “From Local to Global: How to Start Your International Journey.” The event was held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, and was hosted by Irfan Alifulmuna, an Educational Technology student. The featured speaker was Behrooz, an international student from Pakistan who is currently pursuing his education in Indonesia.
This activity aimed to provide students with insights and knowledge regarding international opportunities, such as student exchange, internship programs, and overseas scholarships. During the opening session, Irfan emphasized that the topic is highly relevant to the needs of students today, especially in facing the era of globalization and digitalization. He stressed the importance of having the courage to step out of one’s comfort zone and build international experience from an early age.
In his presentation, Behrooz shared his personal experience when he first embarked on his international journey. He revealed that the biggest challenges he faced were the process of adapting to a new environment, a different culture, and the difficulty of understanding a new language. "When I first came to Indonesia, everything felt different, from communication styles to daily habits. It made me feel confused at first," Behrooz admitted. However, he emphasized that the ability to adapt is the primary key to overcoming these challenges. He also conveyed the importance of building self-confidence and resilience, stating that every individual has abilities that can be developed to seize global opportunities.
The discussion also covered the initial steps students can take to start their international journey. Behrooz suggested that students should start by building connections or networking and understanding their own potential. He added that many international opportunities are not always widely publicized on social media but circulate within specific community circles.
Regarding scholarship opportunities, Behrooz explained that students can access various sources from both home and host country governments. He also stressed the importance of fulfilling administrative requirements, such as English proficiency through TOEFL or IELTS tests, and adjusting to the criteria of each program.
The enthusiasm of the participants was evident from the many questions asked, ranging from scholarship tips to challenges of studying abroad. As a form of appreciation, the committee provided prizes for participants with the best questions, which could be collected at the Educational Technology Faculty Room.
To close the session, Behrooz delivered an inspiring message: "Nothing is impossible. Everyone has the ability. The most important thing is to believe in yourself and never give up." Irfan concluded by expressing hope that this event would motivate students to continue growing and take bold steps on the international stage.
